The Stockton Unified School District was given 15 days to respond to recommendations from the San Joaquin County Office of Education on how to correct issues related to potential fraud in contract dealings and finances.

The recommendations include revising procurement policies and regulations, reviewing Form 700 policies, and providing training for board members and managers. The district agreed to implement all recommendations by May 31 and start recommended training by July 31.

This change of heart may be attributed to the election of new board members who are more willing to address issues of financial mismanagement and dysfunction. The new leadership has vowed to face these issues and prioritize student learning and achievement. For more on this check out The Stockton Record
