Disney and Marvel have announced the release of a new Fantastic Four movie, which has sparked excitement among fans worldwide.

The City of Stockton, California, has joined in on the anticipation and is hoping to play a role in the upcoming film. Despite its release not being until 2025, a petition is currently being circulated to have Stockton featured as the superheroes' hometown.

Mayor Kevin Lincoln highlighted that Stockton was named the birthplace of the Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Marvel Comics. In fact, Stan Lee himself stood at City Hall to proclaim it.

Although the original Fantastic Four storyline had them residing in Central City, California, Stockton was chosen as their home in 1985 when hundreds of signatures were gathered for the cause.

Mayor Lincoln is determined to bring his city into the Marvel Comics Universe and believes that Stockton has a rightful place in the film. The city's residents are also rallying behind this cause, with the mayor stating, "We here in Stockton think it’s only right that Stockton be featured in the film. Why Stockton you may ask? We say why not Stockton?"

As of now, it remains uncertain whether Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, Invisible Girl, and the Torch will indeed be depicted as living in Stockton. However, the petition is still open to signatures, and interested parties can show their support by visiting Fantastic4Stockton.com.

The possibility of seeing a beloved superhero group living in their hometown is undoubtedly a source of pride and excitement for residents. It is a testament to the power of popular culture in bringing communities together and igniting a sense of shared purpose and identity.
