The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has accepted a donation of $98,299.06 for the Mary Graham Children’s Shelter in French Camp.

The donation came from the estate of longtime Lodi resident Daisy A. Scaletta, who passed away and left the generous sum for the private nonprofit organization.

The Mary Graham Children’s Shelter was formed by local people to support foster youth in the area. Although there are no specific details on how the funds will be used, Sam Kaisch from the county’s Human Services Agency stated that they are exploring the best ways to use the money to improve the lives of the children at the shelter.

Supervisor Paul Canepa expressed amazement at the size of the donation and commended the family for their generosity. Supervisor Tom Patti suggested contacting the family of Scaletta to publicly acknowledge the donation during one of their upcoming meetings.

The gift was officially accepted at the April 25 Board of Supervisors meeting and received by the shelter on March 1. For more on this, check it out on Stocktonia.
