Nearly three dozen volunteers dedicated part of their weekend to cleaning and beautifying Fremont Square Park in downtown Stockton as part of the Stockton Clean City Initiative in collaboration with CalTrans’ Clean California program.
The community-driven effort, which took place on February 8, 2025, focused on removing litter, planting new trees, and painting various park structures. CalTrans provided all necessary materials, allowing volunteers to make a significant impact on the park’s appearance and cleanliness.
Participants ranged from local residents to youth volunteers, including members of the Civil Air Patrol Squadron 72 and students from Aspire Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy. Volunteers painted curbs, the Pioneer Memorial Fountain, and even the park’s bathroom building, giving the space a fresh new look.
This event is one of several planned throughout the year, with the next scheduled for March 15 at Long Park (4535 Woodchase Lane). Community members interested in joining future cleanup and beautification projects can visit the Clean City Initiative page on VolunteerMatch. Those looking to organize a cleanup in their neighborhood can also contact the City of Stockton for more information.
