STOCKTON, CA — The community of Stockton faced a somber weekend as two pedestrian accidents resulted in fatalities, reported by Victoria Franco of Bay City News. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims of these separate incidents on Tuesday.
The first tragic incident occurred on Saturday around 5:45 p.m. on El Dorado Street near Vine Street. A vehicle struck 60-year-old Lodi resident Janet Hughes Rojas while she was walking. Rojas was rushed to the hospital but sadly was pronounced dead.
In a separate incident on Sunday night, 39-year-old Stockton resident Amanda Altes was fatally injured at the intersection of Waterloo Road and Wilson Way. Altes was also struck by a car and succumbed to her injuries.
The drivers involved in both collisions cooperated with the police investigations. These incidents have raised concerns about pedestrian safety in the city, reminding residents and drivers alike of the importance of vigilance and caution on the roads.
