Manteca, CA - The Manteca Police Department reported a tragic incident on Monday, in which a local woman was found dead in her residence on the 900 block of Davis Street.
The police received a call regarding an unresponsive woman just before 12:30 p.m. First responders arrived at the scene and determined that the woman was deceased.
During the investigation, officers discovered two small children present at the residence. The children were taken to the Manteca Police Department and later handed over to Child Protective Services.
As detectives examined the case, they determined that the woman's death was a result of homicide. Her husband was identified as the primary suspect. A search for the husband was initiated, with neighboring counties being alerted.
Later that evening, the Merced County Sheriff's Office, located approximately 50 miles south of Manteca, contacted the Manteca Police Department. They reported that they had found the husband deceased from an apparent suicide.
The Manteca Police Department has not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect, citing the need to respect the families' privacy during this difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, and the police department is working closely with the Merced County Sheriff's Office to gather more information about the tragic events that unfolded on Davis Street.
