Yesterday, downtown Stockton came alive with energy and community spirit as nearly 2,000 participants joined the 20th Annual Run & Walk Against Hunger. This beloved event, benefiting the Emergency Food Bank Stockton/San Joaquin, raised funds to support families in need while promoting fitness and togetherness.
Starting at Stockton Ballpark, the event kicked off at 6:30 a.m. with registration, followed by the Kids’ 1/4 Mile Fun Run at 8 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run began at 8:30 a.m., with participants enjoying a scenic route through downtown Stockton.
The fundraiser comes at a critical time for the Emergency Food Bank. According to the organization, the number of families served has grown dramatically, with over 312,000 families assisted in 2023—an increase of 60% since 2019. Proceeds from the event help the Food Bank provide healthy food and nutrition education to those in need.
“This event brings the community together to support a vital cause,” organizers said. “Every step taken by our participants makes a meaningful difference.”
With generous support from local media partners like ABC10 and 99.3 KJOY, as well as countless volunteers and donors, the Run & Walk Against Hunger continues to be the Emergency Food Bank’s largest one-day fundraiser.
