Stockton residents are urged to gear up for possible heavy rains as the city offers free sandbags and filling stations this Friday and Saturday.

In light of potential rainfall, city officials are taking proactive measures, especially advising those who faced flooding or high waters in the previous winter storms of 2022-23 to make early preparations for the upcoming rainy season.

The self-service, self-fill sandbag stations will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at strategic locations, including the Stockton Soccer Complex (10055 N. State Route 99, W. Frontage Rd), Weber Point Events Center (221 N. Center St), and Van Buskirk Park (1740 Houston Ave).

Residents are reminded to bring their own shovels for self-filling and to carry identification showing a City of Stockton address. City employees will be on hand to assist in filling and loading sandbags into vehicles during these hours.

Preparedness is key, and these free sandbag stations aim to empower Stocktonians to safeguard their homes and properties in anticipation of adverse weather conditions.
