On Easter Sunday, a food delivery driver named Ashley was shot and robbed by two unidentified suspects around 10:15 p.m. near Van Buskirk Park in Stockton.

Ashley, who is believed to have been working for Instacart at the time, survived the attack.

Ashley's husband, Robert Mendoza, set up a GoFundMe to provide details of the incident and raise funds for her recovery. "She suffered a tragic almost life losing experience on Easter night just trying to make her money doing Instacart," Mendoza wrote.

Stockton police have not yet confirmed Ashley's employment with Instacart, but friends of the victim and the online fundraiser support this claim. In response to the shooting, fellow food delivery driver Kristina Avilucea said she plans to change her delivery habits, avoiding the park area where the incident occurred and ensuring her car is locked and turned off during deliveries.

Stockton police recommend that nighttime delivery drivers shine their headlights toward the delivery location to improve visibility.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspects involved in the robbery and shooting to contact Stockton Crimestoppers.
