The Stockton Police Department released sketches on Monday of two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting of a police sergeant earlier this month. The shooting occurred on the morning of August 2 near the intersection of Gateway Court and Kentfield Road.
The sergeant was in the area patrolling for a carjacking suspect when the incident took place. After attempting to stop a vehicle, the suspect led officers on a chase that concluded in the area where the shooting happened.

According to the police, the sergeant was shot in the chest and shoulder region during a foot chase with the suspects. The sergeant did not return fire.

A 20-year-old named Sunthawon "Benny" Savon has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Savon faces multiple charges, including carjacking, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing from a peace officer, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Surveillance footage released in late August shows at least three individuals running from the scene of the shooting while appearing to fire weapons behind them.

Stockton Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact their non-emergency number at 209-937-8377 or the investigations division at 209-937-8323.
