A teacher from Sierra Middle School has voluntarily resigned following allegations of writing a racial slur next to a Black student’s photograph on a seating chart. The Lincoln Unified School District is currently in the process of finding a suitable replacement, as reported by ABC 10.
Parents and students were shocked to discover the N-word enclosed in quotation marks next to the student's image. The incident has sparked outrage among the school community. Kelly Nordstrom, the educator in question, held the position of a cultural awareness and diversity teacher.

Liz Manipol-Lee, a concerned parent, expressed her dismay to ABC 10: “It was outright hate speech so nonchalantly noted down by someone who is supposed to educate and nurture our kids.” She elaborated that the seating chart serves as a tool for the teacher to keep notes and record points. Manipol-Lee mentioned, “From what we know, she might have overheard the student using a variant of the word. But instead of addressing it or discussing it, she jotted it down in its derogatory form.”
