Delta College was sent into a lockdown due to a suspected armed robbery. The suspect fled from the Sherwood mall area to delta to avoid the police.

The college sent out an alert and posted on social media asking for the students and staff to lockdown in place or stay away. Shortly after at about 3:20 pm Delta released a statement that the campus lockdown was lifted, after officers cleared the campus.

“We’re thankful to our employees and students for heeding the lockdown instructions, and to our college police department for promptly issuing the emergency alert,” said Alex Breitler, a spokesperson for Delta College.

“Some people don’t realize that Delta College has its own police department of sworn law enforcement officers who train for this sort of incident,” Breitler added. ”We are grateful to have them.”

District police said officers did not find the armed robbery suspect on campus.

The initial alert said that the college had received a report of a person with a gun on campus. At that time, the alert said the person was seen near the Cunningham lots on the college’s northeastern side of campus. To read the full article visit the Record’s site.
