The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce has announced Linda Chin Luna as the recipient of the 2024 ATHENA Leadership Award. Luna, a Stockton native, was surprised with the news on September 16, 2024, at the Chamber's office by past awardees, Stockton Chorale members, and Chamber staff.
The prestigious ATHENA Award recognizes individuals who excel in their profession, support the advancement of women, contribute to the community, and mentor others. Luna’s illustrious career spans 37 years in education, including her role as Superintendent of Washington Unified School District until her retirement in 2021. She spent 26 years with Stockton Unified School District, where she cherished moments such as teaching her son’s 5th-grade class.
Beyond education, Luna is an active community leader. She currently serves as President and CEO of the Stockton Chorale, where she led the organization’s reopening after the pandemic and implemented a strategic plan for its future growth.
The ATHENA Award will be formally presented at a luncheon on November 21, 2024, at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.
