As the countdown to California's Primary Election on March 5 continues, early voting has already taken off across the state. With the election just around the corner, here’s everything you need to know about casting your vote early, be it through mail-in ballots or in-person voting sites being prepped across various counties.

Mail-In Ballots: Already in the hands of voters, these ballots are being counted as we speak. If you're one of the many Californians who prefer the convenience of mail-in voting, now's the time to ensure your vote is on its way back to make your voice heard.

In-Person Voting Sites: Ready to step into a booth and make your selection the traditional way? Depending on where you live, the experience might look a bit different this year. For instance, Placer County has done away with assigned polling places, embracing the Voter's Choice Act. This means eligible voters from Placer can head to any of the 29 vote centers spread across the county. These centers offer a flexible schedule, open for four to 11 days straight, including Election Day.

Ryan Ronco from Placer County has shared that around 11,000 ballots have already made their way back for this election, indicating a strong start to the voting process.

What About San Joaquin County? If you're in San Joaquin County, traditional polling places are your go-to, but only on Election Day. Olivia Hale, the county's Registrar of Voters, advises getting there early to avoid lines, mentioning that they've added more locations to ease the process.

Drop Boxes and Early In-Person Voting: Don’t forget about the county's 25 official drop boxes for mail-in ballots, a convenient option for many. Plus, San Joaquin County is offering early in-person voting at their downtown Stockton office for those who like to get ahead of the game.

Missed the Registration Deadline? If you didn’t register by February 20, don’t worry! California allows you to register in person on Election Day and vote with a provisional ballot. So, you still have a chance to participate in this crucial part of our democracy.

With these varied options, California is doing its best to accommodate every voter's needs, ensuring the process is as smooth and accessible as possible. Whether you're dropping a ballot in the mail, visiting a vote center, or showing up at a traditional polling station, your vote matters. So, let's make it count!
