The much-anticipated third annual Downtown Stockton National Night Out block party is set to take place on Tuesday, Aug. 1. This event is part of the National Night Out campaign, which aims to foster positive relationships between the community and law enforcement in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the national campaign.
In collaboration with the Downtown Stockton Alliance, Parents by Choice, and San Joaquin County Probation, the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) is proud to host this year's National Night Out block party. The event will be held at a new location, the Courthouse Plaza on 306 East Main Street, stretching all the way to the Bob Hope Theatre.
Elisa Bubak, the public information officer for the SJCOE, expressed excitement about the growth and unfolding of the party, which has been a part of Downtown Stockton for three years. The block party will commence at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. to accommodate the increased number of vendors and participants compared to previous years.
The event is open to the entire community and admission is free. Attendees will be treated to an array of food trucks, including Sweet and Snow and The Callejeros Grill. The Stockton Kings and Stockton Ports will also be present, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The first 125 people to visit Sweet and Snow will receive complimentary shave ice, adding to the excitement. Additionally, there will be a free arcade game and a Nerf zone for entertainment. Parents will also have the opportunity to get their children free haircuts by Uniqo Salon within Courthouse Plaza, providing a valuable service ahead of the back-to-school season.
The San Joaquin County Probation has partnered with the event and will be providing a tattoo removal service for those looking to remove unwanted body art. The Behavioral Health Services crisis unit and the Opioid Safety Coalition will also be in attendance, offering valuable support and information to the community.
Upon check-in, attendees will receive a passport, and if they visit all 50 booths representing various community-based organizations, non-profits, and government agencies, they will receive stamps that can be entered into a raffle. The event will also feature food vendors, craft vendors, and numerous other attractions.
As this year's National Night Out block party promises to be a vibrant celebration of interagency partnership, the entire Stockton community is invited to attend and show their support for this essential initiative.
Other National Night Out events in Stockton include those at Yosemite Street Village, from 5-8 p.m. on Yosemite Street Between Acacia and Poplar Street, and First Baptist Church, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at 3535 N El Dorado Street.
