On September 4th, 2024, San Joaquin A+ and the Linked Learning Alliance announced a $300,000 initiative aimed at developing healthcare-focused education and work-based learning programs for high school students in the Central Valley. The Career Connected Learning Tri-County Collaborative (CCLTCC), which unites San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties, will distribute the grant to three local school districts to help students prepare for careers in healthcare.
The initiative, officially launched at Ripon High School, will provide each participating district—Ripon Unified School District (San Joaquin County), Patterson Unified School District (Stanislaus County), and Merced Union High School District (Merced County)—with $100,000 in funding over the next two years. The funds will be used to create dual-enrollment programs, work-based learning opportunities, and internships to equip students with both academic and practical skills in healthcare.
“This initiative will provide students with critical skills and real-world experience, preparing them for future careers in healthcare,” said representatives from San Joaquin A+ at the event. The program is supported by partnerships with community organizations, including Delta College, Modesto Junior College, and Merced Junior College, as well as online learning platforms like Air Tutors and Subject.
The Tri-County Collaborative aims to create a sustainable pathway for students by providing technical assistance, training in the Linked Learning framework, and opportunities for paid internships. This effort is designed to close the skills gap and prepare students for high-demand jobs in the healthcare sector.
