Texas Sisters Arrested for Torturing 12-Year-Old Girl Who Thought They Were Rescuing Her

CONROE, TX — Two Texas sisters are behind bars after allegedly torturing and starving a 12-year-old girl who turned to them for help escaping sexual abuse at home. Instead of finding safety, investigators say, the child was bound, beaten, cut, and choked for months while the women filmed and humiliated her.

From Rescue to Horror

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Brenda Garcia and 37-year-old Tania Garcia were arrested on Oct. 3, 2025, after a call for help exposed months of ongoing abuse.

Authorities say the girl reached out to Brenda in March, believing she would be safe there after she told her that her uncle had been sexually assaulting her. Brenda, a friend of the uncle, invited the child to live with her and Tania — but soon after, the sisters allegedly turned her new home into a nightmare.

Investigators Describe “Depraved” Conditions

Detectives said the sisters regularly zip-tied the child and beat her with belts, electrical cords, and sticks. She was reportedly cut with scissors, choked with a belt, and told to “just die already.”

At one point, investigators said the girl was forced to eat off the floor and was starved for days at a time.

By the time she managed to escape, doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital found she was malnourished and covered in bruises, cuts, and scars, including a deep infected wound on her forehead.

The Investigation and Arrest

On Sept. 28, deputies were called after the girl disclosed the abuse. She was hospitalized, and the Special Victims Unit began an immediate investigation.

Five days later, both Brenda and Tania Garcia were arrested without incident.

Each faces charges of:

  • Felony injury to a child
  • Unlawful restraint
  • Invasive visual recording (for allegedly photographing the child naked)

Disturbing Details

According to court records reviewed by KHOU and Law&Crime, the sisters claimed the girl was “psychotic” and that she injured herself — but cellphone videos and surveillance footage from inside their home contradicted their story.

The evidence reportedly showed the sisters beating, restraining, and verbally degrading the child, including forcing her to pose unclothed for photos.

Sheriff’s Statement

Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle called the case “deeply disturbing” but said it underscored the power of speaking up:

“This case highlights the importance of community awareness and the courage it takes to speak up,” he said.
“Together, we can protect the most vulnerable among us and ensure that justice is served.”

Where the Case Stands

Brenda and Tania Garcia are being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $200,000 bond each. They have not yet entered pleas and are awaiting their first court appearances.
