STOCKTON, Calif. — San Joaquin Delta College is mourning the loss of two of its student-athletes this year, as reported by Victoria Franco for Bay City News. The college's baseball department announced the death of baseball player Will Wentworth, marking a sorrowful time for the campus community.

Tony Espinoza, Delta College's director of athletics, expressed the community's grief in a campus email. “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of one of our beloved baseball student-athletes, Will Wentworth," he said. Espinoza emphasized Wentworth's integral role on campus, noting his dedication, sportsmanship, and positive spirit.

The circumstances of Wentworth's passing have not been disclosed by the college. This loss follows another tragic event earlier in October when Makaela Crespin, a member of the women's polo team and a Stockton resident, died in a traffic collision. The Stockton Police Department reported that Crespin was involved in a vehicular collision at West Park and North Baker streets and succumbed to her injuries in a hospital.

These back-to-back tragedies have deeply impacted the San Joaquin Delta College community. Espinoza remarked on the significant impact both students had on campus and the void left by their passing.

The college community is coming together to support each other during this challenging time. Remembering the contributions and spirit of Wentworth and Crespin, students and staff are finding ways to honor their memories and legacy.
