Stockton residents can expect cooler, wetter weather this week as two autumn storms from the Pacific Northwest make their way into Northern California. The Stockton-Modesto area may see showers starting Sunday and lasting through Halloween, with daytime temperatures dropping into the low 70s and nighttime lows reaching the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service.
For trick-or-treaters, AccuWeather forecasts an evening low of 51°F on Halloween, with a chance of showers after 11 p.m. Those in higher elevations, including the Sierra Nevada near Lake Tahoe and Interstate 80, should prepare for snowfall ranging from one to three inches, especially above 4,500 feet. While the snow is unlikely to affect roadways heavily, travelers should still be cautious of slick conditions.
The National Weather Service also reports light winds picking up Tuesday with gusts around 7 mph. Further south, Hurricane Kristy in the Pacific is expected to weaken without affecting Stockton's weather directly, though it may add high clouds to Southern California skies.
With Stockton’s first taste of chilly autumn weather and the Sierra’s first snowfall, residents should prepare for winter-like conditions this Halloween.
