Stockton police are investigating the fatal shooting of Stephanie Hernandez, a 28-year-old woman who was found wounded early Saturday morning in the Bear Creek District.
According to authorities, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 3:19 a.m. on the 1900 block of Hickock Court. Hernandez was transported to a hospital, where she later died. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity.
Investigators believe the shooting was connected to a domestic dispute, though further details have not been released.
Hernandez’s death marks Stockton’s fourth homicide of the year, compared to six at this time last year. Overall, citywide homicides have dropped by 33%, and shootings are down 22%, according to Stockton Police Officer Omer Edhah.
