Stockton, Calif. — Gabriel Porras, a dedicated journalist with ABC10’s Stockton Bureau, has been honored as the "Young Professional of the Year" by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented during the annual Business Awards and Installation Dinner held at the Stockton Golf & Country Club on June 27, 2024.
Porras, who was born and raised in San Joaquin County, has made significant contributions through his journalism, focusing on the valley and foothill counties including San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador. His reporting often highlights local businesses, educational policies, and social issues, aiming to cast Stockton in a more positive and reflective light.
"Receiving this award is really heartwarming to me as it is a show of support from the community that raised me," said Porras. "It’s a happy surprise and a point-of-pride to share with my family and ABC10 colleagues.”
Since joining ABC10 in 2021, Porras has held various roles at the station, including digital producer, assignment editor, photographer, and video editor. His dynamic skill set and dedication to storytelling have earned him not only recognition within the community but also a special place in the hearts of those who follow his work.
