A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Saturday night in Stockton, according to the Stockton Police Department (SPD).

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 10:02 p.m. on the 6300 block of North El Dorado Street in the Lakeview District. Upon arrival, police found the victim, later identified as Julian Martinez, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Vice Mayor Jason Lee addressed the tragedy on social media, expressing concern over the violence affecting Stockton’s youth.

“It is truly sad to watch how my city has become such a heartless community,” Lee wrote. “Young people with nothing to do have become heartless, and no matter the reason why this young person is dead, there’s no rationale for the loss and pain this family is enduring.”

No arrests have been made, and the incident remains under investigation.
