As the November 2024 elections approach, Delta College is providing a platform for local candidates to engage with the community through a series of candidate forums. These forums, held at the Dawn Mabalon Forum (formerly the West Forum), aim to give voters the opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for various offices in San Joaquin County.

The first forum took place on September 19, featuring candidates for Delta Board of Trustees Areas 1 and 2. Candidates and their representatives will also be available before and after each forum to connect with voters on a more personal level.

Upcoming forums include:

Forum #1:

  • Tuesday, September 24, 2024
    • 6:00 p.m. – State Assembly District 13
    • 6:45 p.m. – San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors District 1
    • 7:30 p.m. – California State Senate District 5

Forum #2:

  • Wednesday, September 25, 2024
    • 6:00 p.m. – Stockton Mayor
    • 6:45 p.m. – Stockton City Council District 4
    • 7:30 p.m. – Stockton City Council District 6

The forums will feature candidates such as Rhodesia Ransom and Denise Aguilar Mendez for State Assembly District 13, Mario Gardea and Lilliana Udang for SJC Board of Supervisors District 1, and mayoral candidates Tom Patti and Christina Fugazi.

Additionally, the San Joaquin County Board Forum on Thursday, September 26, will feature the Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) Area 4 candidates at 6:45 p.m.

The forums are free to attend, and parking is available in Locke 3 or 4. Voters are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the candidates and their positions before casting their ballots in November.

In addition, Fat City Feed will host a School Board Forum on October 2 at The Well from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., focusing on candidates for Stockton’s school board elections.

These forums provide a vital opportunity for community members to make informed decisions on the future of their city and its leadership.
