Minnesota Woman Ruins Her Own Driveway After Driving Tesla Over Fresh Sealcoat: “Where’s the Common Sense?”

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A Minnesota homeowner is going viral after she drove her Tesla across a freshly sealcoated driveway, leaving deep tire marks and streaks of tar across her yard and the street. Viewers online are calling it a “perfect example of zero common sense.”

“Don’t Drive on It for 24 Hours” — Famous Last Words

According to workers from The Sealcoating Guys, the woman had hired their crew to apply a new layer of protective sealcoat to her asphalt driveway early in the morning. The process requires a full 24-hour drying period — something they say they made clear before starting.

But just hours later, she reportedly decided to back her Tesla out of the garage, driving straight across the wet sealcoat.

“We saw a Tesla parked in the garage, but her husband had already left,” one worker said. “We assumed that was the only car that needed to be moved. Guess we were wrong.”

Within seconds, the woman’s tires sunk into the glossy black coating, leaving tracks from her garage to the sidewalk — and even out onto the road.

“She destroyed the finish,” one crew member muttered in frustration, captured in a video that has since spread online.

Internet Users Can’t Believe It

The reaction online was instant — and brutal.

“Where’s the common sense?” one user wrote. “If I’m getting work done at home, I make sure everything’s out before they start.”

Others pointed out that the miscommunication could have easily been avoided if the woman had simply moved her car ahead of time.

“She had one job — move the car,” another commenter said. “Now she’s got permanent tire tattoos.”

The viral clip also sparked a debate about “Tesla entitlement”, with some Redditors joking that luxury car owners often assume rules don’t apply to them.

“Tesla owners are catching up to BMW drivers in terms of entitlement,” one person wrote. “Escalade owners are still holding the lead though.”

Workers Left Frustrated

The video shows the sealcoating crew attempting to clean up the mess, though one worker admits it was nearly impossible.

“I take pride in my work, so leaving tire marks like that killed me,” one commented. “But honestly, she treated me like I was wasting my breath, so I left her with the blemish.”

Experts say that once sealcoat is disturbed before drying, the only fix is to reapply the entire layer, which can cost hundreds of dollars and delay use for another day or more.

“Communication Matters”

While it’s unclear whether the woman complained about the results, her story has turned into an online lesson in patience — and planning.

“You can have a $60,000 car, but no amount of tech saves you from bad decisions,” one commenter quipped.
