Michigan Labor Day Forecast: Sunshine Dominates as Temperatures Slowly Climb

DETROIT, MICHIGAN – Michiganders can expect a bright and mostly dry Labor Day weekend, with cool mornings giving way to warmer afternoons and highs reaching into the upper 70s and low 80s by Monday.

Sunny and Cool Start

According to Detroit Free Press, high pressure will keep skies clear across the state. Friday night into Saturday morning, inland areas of northern Michigan face a frost advisory, with lows dipping between 31 and 37 degrees.

Daytime highs on Saturday are expected in the upper 60s and low 70s, while Sunday brings a slight warmup into the mid-70s statewide.

Labor Day Will Be the Warmest Day

By Monday, September 1, forecasters say Michigan will see its warmest holiday conditions, with temperatures rising into the 70s and even lower 80s in parts of mid-Michigan.

Cities including Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, and Marquette are all expected to see sunny skies throughout the weekend.

Good News for Outdoor Plans

Forecasters noted that air quality will remain “good” statewide, according to Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

The stable weather pattern makes for ideal conditions for barbecues, parades, road trips, and beach visits, giving Michigan residents one of the most favorable Labor Day weekends in years.
