Michigan Doctor Arrested in Florida Sting After Allegedly Seeking Sex With 5-Year-Old
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA – A Michigan family practice doctor has been arrested in Florida after allegedly attempting to arrange a sexual relationship with a 5-year-old child, according to NBC 6 South Florida .
Undercover Operation Leads to Arrest
Police said the investigation began in June 2025, when Dr. William J. Murdoch engaged in online conversations with an undercover detective posing as the mother of a young child.
Authorities allege Murdoch pursued a relationship with the fictitious woman in an attempt to gain access to her daughter, ultimately making clear his intentions to engage in sexual activity with the child.
Disturbing Details From Chats
During the online exchanges, Murdoch allegedly sent “stomach-churning” messages describing his plans to groom the child.
Police reported that he “went into detail of his demented behavior that is too explicit to share in its entirety.”
A search of Murdoch’s iCloud and messaging accounts uncovered even more alarming conversations. Investigators said he referenced his medical training as useful in pursuing “dark web hunts,” including disturbing discussions of conception, abortion, and intentionally causing birth defects .
U.S. Marshals and Extradition
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Murdoch in Florida after the undercover sting. Authorities confirmed he is expected to be extradited to Port St. Lucie to face formal charges .
Police emphasized that the swift collaboration between detectives and federal authorities likely prevented further harm.
