DP World Contract Logistics to Close Warren Facility, Cutting 70 Jobs

WARREN, Mich. – Global supply chain company DP World Contract Logistics has announced it will close its Warren facility in Macomb County, resulting in the loss of 70 jobs.

The decision comes after the company’s only customer at the site notified DP World it would no longer require its services after October 5, 2025.

Closure Notice and WARN Act Details

The company filed a “courtesy notice” with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity earlier this month. While the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requires advance notice for large-scale layoffs, DP World said the Warren closure did not meet the federal threshold.

In its filing, the company described the move as “sudden and unexpected.” Employees who are not transferred to other DP World locations will have their employment terminated after October 5.

Impact on Workers

The Warren facility, located at 23200 Hoover Road, supported a single client. Once the contract ends, DP World stated it will have no ongoing work at that site.

Some affected employees are represented by Teamsters Local 299 in Detroit, though the exact number of unionized workers and job titles were not specified.

Company Background

DP World employs roughly 100,000 workers across more than 120 locations worldwide, according to its website. The Warren closure represents only a small fraction of its global footprint but marks a significant loss for the local workforce in Macomb County.

The permanent closure of the Warren facility underscores the volatility of contract-based logistics work and its impact on local employees when major clients pull out.
