California Man Confesses to Killing Woman Over Debt, Claims Six Total Victims
OILDALE, CA – A 41-year-old California man has confessed to killing a 62-year-old woman over an unpaid debt, telling a local TV reporter that he has killed at least six people and considers himself a “monster.”
The Murder of Roxana Jo Kelly
On Aug. 9, firefighters discovered the body of Roxana Jo Kelly inside a burned-out mobile home at the Superior Mobile Home Park in Oildale, just north of Bakersfield. Investigators determined the blaze had been deliberately set the night before.
On Aug. 18, Daniel Graham, 41, and Misha Allen, 42, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing, according to KGET.
Jailhouse Confession
This week, Graham gave a jailhouse interview where he openly admitted to killing Kelly. He claimed she owed him money and insulted him with slurs during a confrontation. Graham said he lost control, ran behind her, and “choked her out” until she died.
“I feel sorry about what happened to Roxanne but you know, it is what it is,” Graham said in the interview. “I can be your best friend. I can be your worst nightmare.”
He told reporters this was the only woman he had ever killed, saying, “All my other victims have been males.”
Claims of Multiple Killings
Graham said he has killed six people in total — three in California and three in his hometown of Gallup, New Mexico. He recalled taking his first life at 17, insisting he has not seen himself as a “human being” since then.
As an example, Graham described killing a man he believed was molesting a child in his family. He said he lured the man to a lake, shared beers with him, then shot him from behind.
“I haven’t seen myself as a human being in a long time,” he admitted. “Since I took my first life.”
Statements on Guilt and Identity
Throughout the interview, Graham repeatedly called himself a “monster” and a “beast.” When asked if he felt guilty for his victims, he replied: “A couple, yeah. But a couple — not gonna lose any sleep over it.”
Asked about his own sentence, Graham responded: “If it were up to me, I’d probably get rid of me.”
When pressed on whether he would provide names of his alleged victims to give closure to families, he declined, stating: “Probably. But I stopped being good a long time ago.”
Purpose of the Interview
Graham also insisted that his co-defendant, Misha Allen, was not involved in Kelly’s death. He claimed another, unidentified woman was with him on the night of the fire, not Allen.
The case remains under investigation as prosecutors weigh Graham’s confessions against available evidence.
