Academy ISD Employee Arrested in Bell County on Charge of Displaying Harmful Material to Minor

BELL COUNTY, TEXAS — A maintenance employee with Academy Independent School District has been arrested after investigators say he displayed harmful material to a minor earlier this week.

Details of the Arrest

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that William Anthony Blackburn Sr. was taken into custody without incident on Monday, September 29 in Killeen.

Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman issued an arrest warrant on charges of Display of Harmful Material to a Minor, a felony offense under Texas law.

The Sheriff’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team assisted investigators in locating and arresting Blackburn.

School District Response

Academy ISD officials say Blackburn has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The district added it is cooperating fully with law enforcement.

Ongoing Investigation

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division continues to review the case and will present findings to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution.

Blackburn remains in custody at the Bell County Jail.
