Stockton witnessed a tumultuous weekend, marked by two separate shootings and a triple vehicle collision that left one person dead.
Early on Saturday morning, police officers were called to the 100 block of Gateway Court in the Valley Oak District at approximately 1:02 a.m., following reports of a shooting. A 25-year-old man was discovered at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response of medical personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries. As of now, detectives are spearheading the investigation, but motives and suspect details remain undisclosed.
On the same day, another shooting incident unfolded in the Lakeview District of Stockton. Two 19-year-old men found themselves under fire from a white sedan while they were in the 2900 block of Plymouth Court. One of the men was hit and had to be rushed to a hospital. Thankfully, he is anticipated to make a recovery. Police have yet to release any information regarding the suspects linked to this drive-by shooting.
To compound the city's woes, Saturday night witnessed a tragic triple vehicle crash at the intersection of South Stanislaus Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Officers arrived at the scene around 10:28 p.m. post receiving reports of the collision. One of the drivers was declared dead at the scene, while the other two were transported to a hospital with injuries. They are both expected to recover. The circumstances leading to this tragic accident are still under investigation.
