STOCKTON, Calif. — The recent raid on Stockton Unified School District Board President AngelAnn Flores has been shrouded in mystery until now. An unsealed search warrant reveals the reasons behind the law enforcement action that took place on the morning of November 14. This new information comes from a report by Aaron Leathley and Hannah Workman of The Stockton Record.
The search warrant, authorized on November 9 by Judge Richard Mallet, targeted alleged misuse of a school district credit card by Flores and other suspected misconduct. Around 8 a.m. on November 14, deputies arrived at Flores’ south Stockton home, searching for evidence of stealing public money, failure to produce government documents, witness intimidation, and Brown Act violations.
During the raid, deputies seized two iPhones, an iPad, a MacBook Air laptop, documents, and a USB drive containing information related to Flores' district credit card from the school district’s headquarters. They also requested access to Flores’ Google and Meta (Facebook) online accounts.
The investigation, led by Captain Art Harty of the sheriff’s Special Services Division, was initiated following concerns raised by Stockton Unified’s former Interim Superintendent Traci Miller and Chief Business Official Joann Juarez. Juarez had noticed questionable expenditures on Flores’ district credit card and suspected that up to $1,000 worth of transactions in 2023 might have been for personal use.
Despite these allegations, no charges have been filed against Flores as of Tuesday morning. She has denied misusing district money, stating, “They gave (the card) to me for district business, I used it for district business.”
This investigation into Flores began in April when Miller contacted the sheriff’s office with concerns regarding SUSD board members. The situation has raised questions about spending policies and practices within the school district.
As the investigation continues, the community awaits further developments. Flores remains adamant about her innocence and transparency in handling district funds.
