Fire season has officially commenced, as the first fire warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the areas in the Northern Valleys of California, including Stockton, California.
Fire warnings occur when heat meets windy days, making it dangerous for locals as the probability of a fire starting becomes heightened. Here are some tips to stay safe this fire season.
Clean and Maintain
Ensure your deck, porches, gutters, and general property are clear of leaves, debris, and tree barks. Having too much of that could lead to a fire starting on windy days. Cleaning and maintaining your yards and overall property, by keeping it hydrated will minimize the risk of fire on your property.
Prune Your Trees
Prune your trees to ensure the lowest branches are 6-10 from the ground.
Cut Your Brown Grass
If you have brown grass on your property, ensure it is cut as this will allow for minimal risk of an involuntary fire started. Brown grass can increase the risk of fires due to its dry nature.
Avoid Flammable Materials
Ensure flammable materials (if applicable) are at least 30 feet away from your property as this can immediately cause a fire.
