San Joaquin County officials have declared a local state of emergency due to the ongoing winter storm damages and atmospheric rivers. According to county emergency services officials, the county Board of Supervisors is expected to ratify the declaration on Tuesday. With this announcement, the county can now avail additional flexibility in managing floodwaters, getting resources, and potentially receiving financial reimbursements from the state and federal government.

County chairman Robert Rickman reassures residents that the county is coordinating efforts among all available resources to prepare for and respond to any challenges caused by the current storm systems. The local state of emergency declaration also provides first responders with additional assistance in dealing with the damage caused by previous storms.

On Saturday, the San Joaquin County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated to handle the situation.
