Downtown Stockton is poised to celebrate the Fourth of July in grand fashion next week. The city's vibrant festivities will include a parade, a festival, and a dazzling firework display, promising an entertaining day for residents.

The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County will kick off the day's events with a parade starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The procession will commence at the intersection of Weber Avenue and El Dorado Street, where it is anticipated to draw large crowds of spectators.

The parade will be followed by a 10-hour festival taking place at the Weber Point Events Center. The event will feature a host of attractions including food trucks, artisan vendors, and various kid-friendly activities. Additionally, attendees can look forward to special performances from an eclectic lineup of entertainers such as Latin Magic Band, Flat Busted, and the acclaimed spoken word poet, Brandon Leake.

A Stockton native, Leake holds the distinction of being the season 15 winner of "America's Got Talent". He gained recognition as the first and only spoken word poet to clinch the title in the reality TV show's history, marking a proud moment for the city.

The grand finale to the day's celebrations will be a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. on the downtown waterfront. This is expected to draw large crowds of residents and visitors alike, creating a festive atmosphere that embodies the spirit of the Fourth of July.

Officials are urging residents to comply with safety guidelines at the event. Hard-top coolers, alcohol, glass containers, bottles, personal fireworks, and pets are strictly prohibited.

The day-long Fourth of July celebration promises to offer something for everyone, with the events being free to the public. With a wide range of activities and entertainment, Stockton's downtown is set to be the place to be this Independence Day.
