In an effort to combat gun violence, the Stockton Police Department is gearing up to hold a gun buyback event. Slated for September 16, this initiative will be set up on the 300 block of North Harrison Street in Stockton, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Department emphasized the event's privacy, noting that participants won't be required to disclose any personal identification, thus ensuring the anonymity of the gun surrender process. Safety procedures have been laid out for those attending: all firearms must be unloaded and placed in the vehicle's trunk. Throughout the process, drivers and passengers are instructed to stay inside their vehicles and adhere to directions from the Stockton Police Department personnel.

According to the information released, participants will receive cash gift cards, ranging from $200 to $400, depending on the type of firearm turned in. It's worth noting, however, that non-functional firearms will only be accepted for the purpose of destruction without any financial redemption.

The Police Department's proactive approach is aimed at reducing the number of firearms in the community and underlining the importance of gun safety.
