As cold weather and heavy rain approach California, Stockton and Manteca are stepping up efforts to protect residents. Stockton has opened two warming zones, while Manteca is providing free sandbags for flood preparation.
Stockton Warming Zones
To offer relief from the cold, Stockton has opened warming zones at the following locations through Sunday, Nov. 24:
- Arnold Rue Community Center (5758 Lorraine Ave., (209) 937-7350)
- Stribley Community Center (1760 E. Sonora St., (209) 937-7351)
Check-in begins nightly at 8 p.m., with check-out by 7 a.m. The warming zones provide water, snacks, restroom access, and overnight resting space in gymnasiums but do not offer full shelter services such as meals or medical care.

Free Sandbags in Manteca
To help residents prepare for potential flooding, the city of Manteca is offering free self-serve sandbags at the Manteca Solid Waste Division (210 E. Wetmore Street). Sandbags can be picked up during business hours in the southeast parking lot.
