The Stockton Mobility Collective was established to address the transportation needs of underserved communities and promote sustainable transportation methods. The program is funded by a $7.4 million grant from the California Air Resources Board Sustainable Transportation Equity Project.
The carshare program is managed by Miocar, a nonprofit electric vehicle carsharing service. Miocar offers a range of electric vehicles for residents to rent. The electric bikeshare program is managed by the San Joaquin Regional Transit District, providing a network of electric bikes for rent.
Both the carshare and bikeshare programs can be accessed through mobile apps, making it easy for users to locate and reserve vehicles. The program's initial charge is $20, and the electric bikes available through the bikeshare program have a maximum speed of 16 miles per hour.
The Stockton Mobility Collective was introduced at a Rise 'N' Ride event, where community members were able to view and test out the available bikes and cars. The initiative aims to provide Stockton residents with accessible, sustainable transportation alternatives.
