Stockton Mayoral Candidates Address Key Issues Ahead Of Election Day

With just over a week left before Stockton’s mayoral election, candidates Christina Fugazi and Tom Patti are making their final pitches to voters. Fugazi, an educator and former city councilor, and Patti, a San Joaquin County Supervisor, both share Stockton roots, driving their focus on community issues.

Public safety is a central theme for both. Fugazi emphasized fully staffing the police department and acknowledged concerns over homelessness. “Public safety touches everyone,” Fugazi said, adding that transitional housing options, like safe camping and parking, would offer places for the homeless to go.

Patti, focused on reunifying the homeless with support networks, said, “If they’re not from here, let’s get them back to where their support network is.” He also advocated for community appreciation of law enforcement, steering away from past “defund” discussions.

Both candidates agree on the need to enhance Stockton’s appearance. Patti highlighted “sidewalks, streets full of weeds, overgrowth, neglect,” while Fugazi pointed to road repairs and maintenance of trees and public spaces.

Stockton voters will choose between these two distinct visions for the city’s future on Election Day.
