A Stockton man was arrested by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) following a shooting incident that occurred on Interstate 5 in western Stanislaus County on Wednesday.

Marco Inclan-Millan, 58, now faces potential charges of assault with a deadly weapon and a firearm violation related to a previous felony conviction.

According to a CHP news release, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired on northbound I-5, north of Sperry Road near Patterson. The shooting was the result of an argument between two individuals over a minor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, Modesto-area CHP officers discovered a bullet in the dirt, which was subsequently collected for evidence. The victim, unharmed, provided investigators with a description of the suspect and a white Freightliner with a blue Amazon trailer, purportedly driven away by Millan.

In a cooperative effort, Amazon assisted investigators in locating the trailer in Stockton. Investigators found the Freightliner near the Port of Stockton around 1:40 p.m. and proceeded to stop the vehicle, detaining Millan.

A subsequent search of the Freightliner, made possible through a search warrant, led to the discovery of a semiautomatic handgun with rounds in the magazine. Millan was arrested without incident. Investigations are ongoing as the CHP works to piece together the full sequence of events leading to the arrest.
