Stockton Kings Triumph Over South Bay Lakers In Home Opener

STOCKTON, Calif. — The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, celebrated a robust victory in their home opener against the South Bay Lakers, finishing with a score of 112-101 at the Adventist Health Arena.

The Kings established dominance early in the game, gaining an 11-point lead within the first five minutes and closing the first quarter with a lead of 35-24. The team's impressive performance continued in the second quarter, largely thanks to Jordan Ford, the Kings' two-way guard. Ford led all scorers with 13 points, contributing significantly to the team's 16-point lead by halftime.

Stockton's proficiency was evident in their shooting, finishing the first half with a 50% success rate. They skillfully converted 12 South Bay turnovers into 20 points, demonstrating both offensive efficiency and defensive prowess.

The Kings maintained their momentum into the second half, starting with a lead of 62-51. A 12-6 run in the third quarter further extended their lead by 23 points. Stockton's aggressive gameplay continued, gaining a significant 10-2 advantage over South Bay.

In the fourth quarter, a remarkable assist from Stockton Kings guard Dane Goodwin to center Chance Comanche resulted in a powerful dunk, marking the Kings' largest lead of the day with 25 points. Despite a late surge from the South Bay Lakers with an 11-3 run, Stockton secured their victory confidently.

Ford emerged as a standout player, scoring 27 points (11-17 FG, 64.7%), along with six assists, nine rebounds, and a steal. This marked Ford's second consecutive 20-point performance this season. Additionally, Kalob Ledoux, in his first start of the season, scored 16 points and made four steals in 28 minutes. Christian Terrell also made notable contributions with 15 points and nine rebounds.

From the South Bay Lakers, guard Maxwell Lewis scored 19 points (7-9 FG, 77.7%), with Louis King adding 15 points, and guard Scotty Pippen Jr. contributing 12 points and three steals.

The Stockton Kings are set to face the South Bay Lakers again at Adventist Health Arena on Tuesday, November 21, at 7:00 PM PST.
