STOCKTON, Calif. — A recent investigation into a shooting on Interstate 5 in Stockton has led to a startling discovery and arrest related to human trafficking. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident began with a shooting investigation and culminated in uncovering a human trafficking case.
On November 24, at 1:30 a.m., the CHP began investigating a report of a possible shooting on southbound Interstate 5, north of French Camp Road. At the scene, officers found an abandoned gray Honda Sedan with bullet holes and damage to both the front and back. The car, left in the first lane of the interstate, contained a wallet and a cell phone linked to the vehicle's registered owner.
The victim of the shooting, located at a nearby park by the Stockton Police Department, recounted that he was driving with a female passenger when they were pursued and shot at by a driver in a black Audi SUV.
Further investigation revealed a disturbing twist. The female passenger, who was in the victim's car during the shooting, was identified as a victim of human trafficking. She named the driver of the Audi SUV as her suspected trafficker.
The suspect, 33-year-old Adonnis Taylor, already under postrelease community supervision (PRCS), was identified and arrested on Wednesday. Taylor was driving the Audi SUV at the time of his arrest. He has been charged with attempted homicide and human trafficking.
Additionally, a passenger in Taylor's vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Anthony Robinson Jr., was arrested for a PRCS violation.
