STOCKTON, CA — The family of Anthony Morones, a 17-year-old who was fatally shot nearly three years ago, has taken a bold step in their quest for justice by unveiling a new billboard in south Stockton. The billboard, which displays Anthony's image, is located along Charter Way and aims to reignite interest in the cold case and generate new leads.

In May of 2021, Anthony suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his chest at the Sierra Vista Housing complex, a tragedy that has left his family grappling with grief and unanswered questions. "Our hearts are just broken in many pieces. We are just trying to put it all back together," shared Joseph Cisneros, Anthony's uncle.

The family's frustration is palpable as they struggle with the lack of progress in solving Anthony's case. "Why hasn’t my son’s case been picked up? Why has it not been solved?" questioned Juanita Gonzales, Anthony’s mother. The emotional toll is heavy on Gonzales, who expressed her sleepless nights and heartbreak over her son's untimely death.

Anthony, described by his grandparents, Pedro and Rachel Gonzales, as a kind, loving, and talkative person who had a passion for cars and music, is remembered fondly by those who knew him. "He was a people person, very talkative," they recalled.

The billboard represents more than just an advertisement; it is a plea for justice and a call to the community to help the family find closure. "Tell us, why did you do it? I will forgive you. Please help us find who did this," Pedro Gonzales implored.

The Stockton Police Department and Stockton Crime Stoppers are working in conjunction with the family, offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the resolution of the case. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

The family remains hopeful that this new approach will bring them the answers they desperately seek. "My heart is not going to rest until I get justice for him," affirmed Cisneros.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Stockton Police or Crime Stoppers to aid in bringing peace to a family long tormented by loss and uncertainty.
