Loren Faria, a 59-year-old Stockton community member, was tragically killed last week.
The San Joaquin County Coroner's Office confirmed Faria's identity and revealed signs of blunt-force trauma to his body. Stockton Police continue to investigate the circumstances of Faria's death.
Faria resided at the Filipino Community Building in Stockton, where neighbors described him as a selfless, sincere man with strong faith and a kind heart. He was also an active volunteer with the faith-based organization Divine Mercy for America, where he helped administer online prayer meetings for over two years.
Directors Dave and Joan Maroney of Divine Mercy for America praised Faria as a faithful volunteer who positively impacted countless prayerful individuals across the country and beyond.
Less than an hour after Faria's death, 18-year-old Walter Green was arrested in connection with the murder. Stockton police connected Green to Faria's death through their investigation of a family disturbance call involving Green on the same day. Green has been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on homicide charges, with his arraignment scheduled for next month.
