Early Sunday morning, the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Stockton fell victim to an act of vandalism that impacted its front entrance, potentially disrupting the morning mass.
Around 6:28 a.m., Stockton Police received a report of vandalism at the cathedral, located at 400 West Rose Street. Officers swiftly responded to the scene, where they discovered that white paint had been applied to the front door area, walkway, and landscaping. Additionally, a flatbed trailer was found parked nearby. Preliminary findings suggest that the vandalism occurred around 5:45 a.m.
Despite this unsettling incident, the Cathedral of the Annunciation remained open for all scheduled masses on Sunday. The church expressed gratitude to its dedicated parishioners, who generously volunteered their pressure washing equipment and skills to mitigate the damage. The maintenance team was set to complete the necessary repairs to the affected doors.
