Non-profit organizations, local businesses, and community leaders from Stockton and Lodi came together to celebrate the appointment of Neil Young as the new superintendent for the Lodi Unified School District. The event, which took place on Wednesday, July 26th, also recognized the seamless transition process from the retiring Dr. Nichols-Washer, one of the state's longest-serving superintendents, to Superintendent Young.
The special gathering, held at the Elkhorn Golf Club in North Stockton, was a momentous occasion where attendees personally congratulated Superintendent Young on his new role. The host committee of esteemed organizations, including the Lodi Winegrape Commission, The Business Council of San Joaquin, the Leadership Stockton Alumni Association, San Joaquin A+, the Lodi Chamber of Commerce, Lodi Appellation Inclusion Collective, the World of Wonders Science Museum, HealthForce Partners, and the Stockton Port District, had extended personal invitations to participants.
One of the highlights of the event was the premiere screening of a short documentary showcasing the new 'Growing Futures' Initiative. This initiative represented a promising collaboration between local businesses and the Lodi Unified School District, aimed at establishing career pathways for students, preparing them for future success in the workforce.
The occasion served as an opportunity for the community to express its support for the district's educational leadership and recognize the positive steps taken toward fostering a dynamic learning environment for students.
