A recent independent quality analysis conducted by PINC AI and reported by Fortune identified Dignity Health St. Joseph's Medical Center (SJMC) as one of the top 50 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States.

The selection process was based on a quantitative research analysis of publicly available data, which measured cardiac care across the country.

Donald J. Wiley, president and CEO of St. Joseph's Medical Center, expressed gratitude for the recognition and pointed out the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality care to the communities it serves. The Morrissey Family Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Joseph's was acknowledged for its focus on providing optimal care for cardiac patients, resulting in improved outcomes and reduced complications and readmissions.

The 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals program winners exhibited better outcomes, higher efficiency, and lower costs compared to a peer group of non-winning cardiovascular hospitals. The winners showed notably higher survival rates in cardiac care, with fewer readmissions and complications. It is estimated that if all facilities in the nation achieved the same results as the top 50 cardiovascular hospitals, over 7,600 lives and $1 billion in costs could potentially be saved.

Leigh Anderson, Premier's President of Performance Services and leader of PINC AI, highlighted the significance of reliable information for patients and their loved ones when choosing where to receive care. The data-driven study indicates that SJMC performs well across various core performance indicators, resulting in higher survival rates for cardiac care and fewer readmissions and complications. This recognition underscores the hospital's commitment to delivering excellent cardiovascular care, especially as heart disease remains the leading cause of death for Americans.
