Two more individuals have been shot and killed on a residential street just east of Airport Way in south Stockton, adding to the alarming tally of five deaths along that stretch of road this month alone.
According to police reports, the victims were discovered at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Thursday night, on a street directly across from Van Buren Elementary School. A 20-year-old man died at the scene, while a 17-year-old and 19-year-old were transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the 17-year-old also passed away at the hospital, while the condition of the 19-year-old remains unknown.
As of now, the spokesperson for the coroner's office has yet to respond to requests to identify the victims, and no descriptions of the individuals, suspects or motives have been released by the authorities.
Evidence markers, possibly indicating where shell casings had fallen, were laid out on the street and sidewalk while at least eight police cars with flashing lights could be seen clustered on 10th Street at around 10:30 p.m. on the night of the incident. Residents who stepped outside of their homes were met with a scene of screens used to shield a body from view beyond the crime scene tape. One young man even approached an officer stationed at the edge of the scene in hopes of determining if a loved one was among the victims.
This incident took place just a few blocks away from another double homicide earlier this month. The previous shooting occurred on March 4th in the 2100 block of Airport, near Southside Market, where two men, aged 24 and 29, were shot and killed, as per the reports from the police.
