With the California general election just three weeks away, early voting is already in full swing. Olivia Hale, the registrar of voters for San Joaquin County, appeared on KCRA 3 to detail the county’s efforts to maintain a safe and secure voting process.
Hale highlighted new security measures, including recently installed cameras monitoring all of the county’s ballot drop boxes. These cameras livestream footage on the county’s election website, ensuring that every ballot is watched from the moment it is dropped off until it is counted on election night. “Voters can rest assured that their ballot is under our watch at all times,” Hale stated.
In the event of a lost or stolen ballot, Hale explained that voters can contact the elections office to have the original ballot voided and receive a new one. "The rule of thumb is one ballot, one voter, no matter what," she emphasized.
As Election Day approaches, San Joaquin County voters can feel confident that their votes are being handled with care and security in mind.
