Students from across San Joaquin County are gearing up for the 27th annual San Joaquin County Spelling Bee, which will take place on Monday and Tuesday at the Wentworth Education Center in Stockton. Hosted by the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE), this event will showcase students from various districts, including Manteca Unified, Ripon Unified, and River Island Unified, as well as private schools such as Ripon Christian and St. Anthony’s.

The competition features two divisions: the Elementary Division, open to fourth through sixth graders, will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, and the Junior High Division, for seventh through ninth graders, will start at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Both events are open to the public.

According to the SJCOE press release, the top champions in each division will earn trophies, while runners-up will receive plaques. Additionally, winners will be awarded Amazon gift cards and the opportunity to advance to the state-level competition scheduled for spring 2025.

The San Joaquin County Spelling Bee is sponsored by the SJCOE Educational Foundation and aims to celebrate academic excellence while fostering a love for language and learning among young participants.
