The 2024 midterm elections are just around the corner, and San Joaquin County residents are preparing to cast their votes in critical races that will shape the future of the local and national landscape. From choosing the next president to deciding on local measures, voters have a lot to consider this November.

Voters have until October 21 to register, but those who miss the deadline can still participate through same-day registration at their polling place from October 22 to November 5. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Key Races to Watch In addition to the U.S. presidential race, Stockton residents will be deciding on their next mayor. The two mayoral candidates, Christina Fugazi and Tom Patti, are both seasoned public servants with unique visions for the city's future.

San Joaquin County voters will also cast ballots for positions on the Board of Supervisors, with notable races in Districts 1 and 3, and various city council seats, including in Stockton's Districts 2, 4, and 6.

Local Measures and Propositions Several local and statewide measures will appear on the ballot. Noteworthy measures include Measure G, a bond for school tech and facility improvements, and Measure N, which proposes changes to Stockton's public safety union negotiations.

Voting Resources To check voter registration status or find polling locations, voters can visit the San Joaquin County Elections website or the California Secretary of State's website. Be sure to also track your ballot through the "Where’s My Ballot?" service for updates on its status.

This election is critical for both local and national politics, and your vote can make a difference. Make sure you're informed and ready to participate when Election Day rolls around on November 5!
